The Big Move

It was getting a bit chaotic with the puppies in the small pen, so this morning we got them ready to move across the yard to the kid pen....

Now they have plenty of space to play....and they still have their bucklings with them.

And they do some serious playing....important activity that will help with their protection roles later...

I almost got all 9 in this picture...

4 of the puppies still need a home...feel free to ask about pricing and information.  The 2 on the left are still available..

They are already working...

Not a dud in the bunch!

Keeping them cool

We are already having temperatures in the mid and upper 80's so we've been working on ways to keep the puppies cool while their bodies adjust to the heat.  Today they got a pupsicle.
I pressure cook chicken leg quarters, 10# at a time.  This creates a lot of broth and also softens the bone.  Then I put the mixture in containers and freeze.  The blocks weigh about 1 1/2 pounds....
Once they get started, it only takes about 10 minutes for the whole thing to be devoured.
They are growing so fast.  Look at their size compared to Kapu...
Right now their daily diet consists of about 1 1/2 pound of chicken, 3 quarts of goat milk, and 4 pounds of kibble each day.  The amount of food increases a little each day...
Tomorrow is their 1 month birthday; I'm hoping to have time to get their individual pictures and updated weights...

Outside

The puppies have been moved outside during the day.  I am watching them so that I can learn each ones' temperament.  Last night we did a startle test and the whole litter passed!
Every puppy approached the unknown.
This breed is breathtaking.  They know what they need to do, and they do it.

Finally Grace!

Our Great Dane, Grace finally met the puppies.  Not that she hasn't tried to....but Reserve is pretty particular about such things.
By the way, that's my pick of the litter trying to suck on her nose.  :)

Of course it was all short-lived when Reserve got word of Grace sniffing the beautiful puppy smells.....she went right back into mommy mode and sent everyone packing...
I love this breed.  They are such remarkable communicators.  Little nudges mean big things.

Puppies

We had a brand new litter of Anatolian Shepherd puppies born on April 25, 2013.  5 males and 4 females, and I'll be updating this page as they grow.  For now, each puppy has a Turkish name....which may or may not stick when they go to their new homes.
First is my favorite in the litter....
Faruk (m) - it means one who separates right from wrong.
Next is the other solid pup in the litter..
Bartu (m) - it is a very old turkish name SOLD
Berk (m) - means sturdy or strong
Kader (m) - means destiny. ON HOLD
and the last boy...
Saygin (m) - means esteemed, respected
And the girlies....
Barik (f) - means light, sparkle
Belis (f) - means exceptional
Seda (f) - means voice
and last but not least...
Feyza (f) - means abundance, blessing
